As of my last update in early 2023, sports betting in Ohio was legal and operational. The Ohio Casino Control Commission oversees sports betting in the state, and both retail and online sports betting are available.
The launch of sports betting in Ohio followed the passage of House Bill 29 in December 2021, which was signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine. This bill allowed for the establishment of sports betting kiosks at casinos, racinos, and certain professional sports stadiums, as well as the authorization of mobile sports betting apps.
To participate in sports betting in Ohio, you must be at least 21 years of age and physically located within state boundaries when placing a bet, whether you are betting in person or online.
